Tonkatsu Maruya Shimbashi Ekimae Station

Tonkatsu Maruya is based in Shimbashi and has over a dozen stores in Tokyo. I visited the main store in front of Shimbashi station. We arrived at about 12:30 during lunchtime and lined up. I guess about 6 people were lined up. After a while into the store. We sat down at the counter in the back and put the dried plums on the special low cutlet set meal. A colleague who went with me asked for a 1.5-fold set meal. The special loin was very soft, juicy and good quality meat. I also got some fillet cutlet, but the fillet cutlet was also soft and delicious. This combination of tonkatsu and rice is wonderful. Cooking condition is also good. Miso soup is a miso soup. I have to take ornithine firmly. It's amazing that miso soup and rice are free instead. Cabbage was also eaten with sauce.

Great tonkatsu! Although no english menu, very helpful and service minded waitresses trying their best when tpurist like me walk in. Hard to find among other simple bars and diners at the subway station. Look at the interior map and compare japanese letters (birthday cake and then a house with huge antenna on the roof)! :)

Good food quality and polite service.Yet menu is in Japanese only. Staff can speak basic English.shop is small, best for party of 1-2.They hv entrance from the mall which you can walk up straight from subway station.

Japanese "Ton katsu"(Fried pork).So delicious!

We went there for a quick lunch and left full and happy. Tried beef fillet set and mix fry set, though almost all the customers were ordering loin fry. Beef fillet was very tender and tasty. Price was very reasonable too. We will come back and try loin (which is cheaper) next time.
